He moved to
Bermuda at the age of 18 and besides improving his culinary skills,
he began painting much more, selling his work to the locals through
several art galleries: The Peter Lekky Gallery and The Wells Fine
Arts gallery.
While exploring
various facets of the oil medium, Francis began learning about
color photography. Neither models nor subjects were in short supply
in those beautiful islands.
At the age
of twenty, he was sent to Germany by the French army to complete
his military service. There, his talents were soon noticed and
he was made artist of the garrison. he painted large size paintings
celebrating the past glory of the unit. One of his paintings was
given to the mayor of the city and now hangs in the city hall
of Horb Am Neckar.
After his
service, he went back to Bermuda for two years, then moved to
Texas, Missouri, Canada, West Virginia, Vermont, and back to Texas
where he now lives and runs his studio.
Throughout
the years, the mostly self taught Jacquinet has experimented with
many different mediums, techniques, styles and subjects. He now
has added murals and faux painting or trompe l'oeil to his repertoire.
A majority
of his work is done on commission, and hangs in private collections
in over twelve different countries throughout the world. Jacquinet
and his artwork have been featured in various newspapers and magazines
in France, Germany, Bermuda and the United States of America,
Jacquinet
has been a member of the Bermuda Artist's Association, The Northern
Vermont Artist's Association, and is an active member of the American
Society of Portrait Artists. |
